Our name The Croft@Crook CIC is a deliberate nod to a powerful tradition. A Croft is a small piece of land attached to a dwelling and a Crofter, the tenant or owner who cultivates it. Acting as a custodian of their small corner of the world. The Croft@Crook CIC believes our entire community are Crofters and Crook our Croft.
As fellow custodians of Crook, The CROFT is here to empower and enable every member of our community, ensuring that we can collectively make positive, feasible and sustainable changes that will last for generations.
The CROFT (Crook Restoration and Opportunities Facilitation Team) is a Community Interest Company. The Croft@Crook CIC (Company Number 16419087) was incorporated on April 30, 2025 in the United Kingdom. The Croft@Crook CIC (TC@C) is a private limited company of small membership, limited by guarantee without share capital.
Our Board of Directors are all unpaid volunteers. We serve the community of Crook.
To identify, engage and empower local stakeholders to deliver regeneration and development projects. Our CROFT Pop-Up Hubs are field hospitals that we parachute into target districts to perform triage.
We identify and empower local people to achieve positive outcomes in three key areas:
Triage: Our unique liquidic model of solutions provision means we can be dispatched tactically. We are flexible to swiftly respond to social and community need.
Facilitation: Our Pop-Up Hub creates a new unprejudiced space within which to listen. It is a place to hear the community and deliver immediately required services.
Partnership: Working in partnership with DCC means TC@C can match evidence based need with community based solutions.
Through this model, we facilitate the creation and restoration of engaged networks of local stakeholders, spaces and services.
CROFT's strategic framework is built on three core themes to reverse negative trends and empower residents.
Our work is led by our flagship research project, in partnership with DCC, which informs and supports our community-led cultural and sporting initiatives.
A New Hope. This initiative establishes a dedicated, fully accessible Digital Inclusion Hub in the heart of the town.
The commissioning of a public art sculpture honoring our local hero and international football legend, Jack 'Jacky' Greenwell.
This initiative establishes new youth, women's, and inclusive community football teams, creating a comprehensive sports and culture hub.
